DJ Durel
The multi-platinum producer, engineer and tour DJ whose instincts helped shape the sound, scale and live energy of the Migos era.
The Man Behind the Momentum
Daryl McPherson—known professionally as DJ Durel—built a career by understanding every part of the record: the beat, the room, the road and the audience. From Cleveland stages to Atlanta studios and arenas around the world, he became far more than the person behind the turntables.
Durel first connected with Migos when he stepped in to DJ a hometown show in Cleveland. That opportunity grew into a long-running creative partnership. As the trio’s tour DJ, producer and recording engineer, he developed the kind of trust that only comes from years of building music together in real time.
Building the Culture Sound
By 2017, Durel had six production credits on Quality Control’s Control the Streets, Vol. 1—more than any other producer on the compilation. The following year, he and Quavo were credited as executive producers of Migos’ blockbuster Culture II.
Durel produced 12 of the album’s 24 songs and served as a recording engineer across the project. His credits include records such as “Narcos,” “Too Playa” and “Notice Me,” while his work beyond the album connected him with artists including Gucci Mane, Lil Yachty, Young Thug, City Girls and Saweetie.
