America Ferrera and Quinta Brunson were among the names celebrating the new animated The Cat in the Hat at its world premiere in Burbank, California, on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Their appearance gives family-movie fans a first look at the people behind the voices ahead of the film’s scheduled theatrical release.
A star-studded preview, not the public opening
PEOPLE’s October 26 celebrity-event coverage identified Ferrera in a white gown and Brunson at the Warner Bros. Studios premiere. Photographs of a premiere can travel widely online, but attending an industry screening is not the same as the movie having opened nationwide.
Warner Bros. Pictures lists November 6, 2026, as the North American theatrical and IMAX release date. International markets are scheduled to begin opening November 4. Dates can differ by country and cinema.
Who is bringing the new Cat to life?
Bill Hader voices the title character. The official cast also includes Quinta Brunson, America Ferrera, Matt Berry, Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, Tituss Burgess, Bowen Yang and Paula Pell.
In this adaptation, the mischievous Cat has a job cheering up two siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, as they struggle with a move to a new town. The family-friendly premise draws on the familiar Dr. Seuss character while introducing a new setting and supporting cast.
Women behind the scenes, too
Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni directed the animated feature from their screenplay, with a screen story credited to Caroline Williams. Those creative credits are important alongside the celebrity voice cast: an animated production is shaped by its writers, directors, artists and performers.
Warner Bros. describes the film as the first full-length feature from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation. The October 25 celebration is a premiere event; reviews, ticket sales and audience reaction after the November 6 opening remain separate, future developments.
