A documentary about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has become one of the most talked-about theatrical releases of October. You Can See Everything, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, earned an estimated $19.5 million over the October 23–25 weekend in North America, according to an Associated Press box-office report.
A striking second weekend
AP reported that the A24 documentary expanded to 2,655 theaters and reached an estimated $45.1 million in North American receipts after two weeks. Weekend box-office figures are generally preliminary estimates before final studio tallies are reconciled.
The film had opened in a much smaller group of theaters, demonstrating the difference between an initial limited theatrical release and a broader expansion. Its commercial reach is unusual for a nonfiction feature that is not part of a popular film franchise.
What the movie covers
The documentary centers on Holmes, the former chief executive of the blood-testing company Theranos, whose claims about its technology unraveled under scrutiny. It explores public fascination with her rise and the fallout surrounding the company’s deception.
A successful movie about a controversial figure should not be confused with a vindication of that person. Box-office performance measures ticket sales; it does not change the underlying legal history or prove that audiences endorse the subject’s actions.
Why entertainment audiences are showing up
The film draws attention from viewers interested in true-crime stories, technology scandals and the filmmaking approaches of Fielder and Oppenheim. Its substantial running time also makes the theatrical turnout notable.
The latest reported domestic total is a snapshot through the October 25 weekend, not a final lifetime gross. Future box-office performance, award prospects and audience views remain separate questions that need their own reporting.
