Cardi B Set to Receive Billboard Canada’s First Global Woman of the Year Honor

Critical Content | Editorial report: October 27, 2026

Cardi B will add a new title to her music-industry résumé next month. Billboard Canada has announced that the Bronx-born rapper will become the first recipient of its Global Woman of the Year award at the November 24, 2026, Women In Music ceremony.

The event is scheduled for Rebel in Toronto. Billboard Canada announced the distinction as part of its third annual Women In Music celebration, which recognizes performers and professionals working across the business. The award is not yet in Cardi B’s hands: as of October 27, the ceremony is still weeks away.

Why the organizer selected Cardi B

Billboard Canada pointed to her international influence and years of chart performance. Its coverage notes 46 entries on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, including eight top-ten appearances, alongside her U.S. chart breakthroughs. Those are Billboard’s reported figures, rather than new calculations by Critical Content.

Her career first accelerated with “Bodak Yellow,” and she went on to become a prominent crossover figure between hip-hop, pop, fashion and social media. In the organizer’s telling, the new award recognizes that influence beyond any single release.

More than one headline name

The Toronto program also has announced honors for other women in music. The list includes Summer Walker, Bebe Rexha, emerging artist Chxrry and Canadian music executive Melissa Bubb-Clarke. Organizers are using the event to highlight both artists onstage and the professionals behind concerts and recordings.

A Women In Music event can create an attention cycle even before the evening takes place, through award announcements and the conversations they prompt about careers and recognition. But a nominee or announced honoree is not the same as a completed appearance: whether an artist performs or delivers particular remarks must be checked against the final show.

For now, the clear milestone is that Cardi B has been selected for Billboard Canada’s inaugural global distinction, with the presentation set for November 24.
