The answer is FOOTSTEPS.
Here’s why it has to be footsteps. Read the riddle carefully: “The more of me you take, the more you leave behind.”
- “Take” can’t mean taking something away from a pile — if you take from a pile, what’s left behind gets smaller, not bigger. So “take” has to be an action you perform, one you can repeat.
- Every time you perform the action, something new appears behind you. Take the action 10 times, and 10 new things exist that weren’t there before. Take it 100 times, and 100 exist.
- Walking fits exactly. Take 10 steps, leave 10 footprints. Take 100 steps, leave 100 footprints. The more steps you take, the more footprints you leave behind. 👣
