GAME How Many Circles Do You Count? The Answer Is 18

The answer is 18 circles.

The rings trip everybody up — so let’s count them the way the picture is built. There are two bullseye-style clusters, and then a set of single circles standing on their own:

  • Bullseye cluster 1: exactly 5 concentric ring outlines = 5 circles.
  • Bullseye cluster 2: exactly 5 concentric ring outlines = 5 circles.
  • Standalone circles: 8 single circles spaced separately around the frame = 8 circles.

Now add them up: 5 + 5 + 8 = 18.

Here’s the rule that settles every argument: each ring outline counts as one circle, because each ring outline is a circle — a full, closed round line. There are no overlapping circles in this picture, no partial arcs, and nothing stretched into an oval that could claim to be something else. The traps run both directions: counters who treat each bullseye as ONE circle land on 10, and counters who start imagining extra rings inside the clusters land somewhere in the twenties. The picture holds exactly what we listed — 5 rings, 5 rings, and 8 singles.

Did you land on 18, or did the bullseyes swallow your count? Be honest in the comments — and watch our page for tomorrow’s counting game.
