Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black is being revisited in expanded formats nearly twenty years after its original October 27, 2006 release. Universal Music set Friday, October 23, 2026, for the new editions, four days ahead of the album’s anniversary.
What the reissue includes
The anniversary package is not being marketed as a new Winehouse studio album. It collects the original record alongside archival material: B-sides, alternate versions, previously unreleased demos, and a 2007 live performance recorded at Amsterdam’s Paradiso. Physical configurations include expanded three-LP and three-CD editions.
Those additions offer a view of the work surrounding the familiar final recordings. Demos can expose earlier arrangements or vocal approaches; live recordings document how songs changed in front of an audience. They also show why archival releases need careful labeling: a work-in-progress is not automatically a finished track that the artist chose to publish.
The music remains closely tied to its original collaborators. Producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi contributed new reflections for the anniversary material, and the project also includes photographs by Mischa Richter and Alex Lake.
A separate London tribute
On October 21, 2026, London’s Roundhouse staged a separate Back to Black celebration with the original band and guest singers including Jorja Smith, Jessie Reyez, Yebba and Corinne Bailey Rae. Universal’s October 23 report confirms that event. This concert is distinct from the earlier Amsterdam performance included in the reissue.
Why the archive matters
The original record went from a UK chart success to enduring international recognition, with songs including “Rehab,” “You Know I’m No Good,” and the title track. The reissue provides another entry point into the music without suggesting that new material can replace Winehouse’s own artistic decisions.
Separately, reports that a stage musical about Winehouse is in early development should not be confused with this confirmed record release. A proposed theater production has a different timeline and is not the subject of this announcement.
